Hotel ballrooms play an important role in many incentive programmes. They can be used for welcome drinks, lunches, dinners, kick-offs, group briefings or as a convenient gathering point before heading out to an off-site activity. While we always encourage our clients to explore the destination, using the hotel for selected F&B moments can be both practical and cost-effective.
There are several reasons why. Hotel ballrooms typically benefit from existing infrastructure, including furniture, AV, catering and staffing, making them a more budget-friendly option than many standalone venues. Hotel meeting space can also form part of the overall negotiation with the property, particularly when booking a large number of bedrooms. And for a final-night dinner or awards ceremony, keeping the event at the hotel can be a great way to maximise attendance at the afterparty—especially when guests have early flights the next morning.
Of course, not every ballroom is created equal. The atmosphere, location, daylight, capacity, F&B offering and overall wow factor all play a role. Based on our experience organising incentive programmes in Amsterdam, these are five of our favourites.

Why we like it:
The Pearl Room stands out for its unusual opera-style balcony, vibrant design and integrated audiovisual facilities. With 476 bedrooms on site and excellent public transport connections to Amsterdam city centre, it is a practical option for larger incentive groups looking for good value without compromising on atmosphere.

Why we like it:
The Amstel Ballroom is one of the largest pillarless hotel ballrooms in Amsterdam and benefits from an impressive six-metre-high ceiling and plenty of natural daylight. The adjacent outdoor terrace is a real bonus for breaks or pre-dinner drinks. Located next to a metro station, the hotel offers easy access to both Amsterdam city centre and Schiphol Airport, while its 490 bedrooms make it particularly suitable for larger groups.

Why we like it:
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, just a five-minute walk from Central Station, De Koepelkerk offers something completely different from a traditional hotel ballroom. This beautifully renovated 17th-century church sits directly opposite the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel (reopened in Q2 2026 after a full renovation) and is connected via an underground passage, making it particularly convenient in bad weather. Its historic architecture, impressive dome and private jetty make it a memorable setting for dinners, receptions and special events.

If location is key, it doesn't get much better than this. Situated directly on Dam Square, the Grand Ballroom combines a central location with the grandeur of one of Amsterdam's most iconic hotels (402 rooms). We particularly like the branding possibilities around the ballroom and the connection to the hotel's Wintergarden, which provides an elegant space for lunches, coffee breaks or pre-dinner drinks. Keep in mind that coaches cannot access the hotel directly, making logistics an important consideration for larger groups.

Our number one choice is the Grand Ballroom at Hotel Okura Amsterdam. This spacious ballroom combines natural daylight, impressive capacity and the exceptional culinary standards for which Okura is known. The dedicated banqueting kitchen is located directly behind the ballroom, while a car elevator makes it easy to bring larger production elements into the space. Located in Amsterdam South and part of a five-star deluxe hotel with 301 bedrooms, it offers everything needed for a high-end incentive programme where both the event and the overnight stay need to deliver.

The perfect hotel ballroom is about more than capacity. It needs to fit the character of your program, work with your budget and logistics, and create the right atmosphere for your guests. From large-scale celebrations at Hotel Okura to the historic charm of De Koepelkerk, Amsterdam offers plenty of options to make an event within your hotel just as memorable as an off-site experience.
